We hosted our first author talk in 2023 on Sunday 10 September 2023 from 10 am to 12 noon at The Little Big House, 16 Flour Mill Way, Summer Hill. In 2024 there are more good things coming for readers and authors.
Sydney Authors Inked Events are held by a group of local authors who want to share their experiences with readers and other authors. We host #free #book #talks for readers and authors to learn more about the craft of writing and to meet local #authors. During each event, two authors discuss their books and writing as well as talk about reading, publishing, and why they enjoy writing. In 2024 we will be interviewing authors about their writing journey and allow them to share their experience with you.
Sydney Authors Inked – A Writer’s Journey
Our first event for 2024 is a special one and we are pleased to announce our first two ‘in conversation’ guests, Uma Srinivasan and Julie Howard. We are excited to present these two accomplished authors to you at this free event.
On Sunday 18 February from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm, Sydney Authors Inked is in conversation with Uma Srinivasan, a computer scientist turned #author. Her debut historical novel ‘Etched in Gold’ was shortlisted by Penguin Random House for the ‘2023 WriteIt Fellowship’ and she hopes to publish it in 2024.
We are also in conversation with Julie Howard who loves writing #fiction, singing with the Philharmonia choir, making art, bushwalking, and travelling. She is President of Spill the Beans, an online #writing community. Julie is currently completing her second novel ‘Solo Sisters’. Go to @humanitix to register for what will be an entertaining event for both #readers and #authors.
Sydney Authors Inked is a collective of local authors who want to give back to those who aspire to be writers and to readers who appreciate and support authors. At these events, we will share our knowledge of publishing and what readers can look forward to from self-published authors. We’re here to help authors navigate the sometimes slippery slope that is the publishing industry and assist readers in finding their next great read.
We also enjoy meeting our readers and people who want to discover diverse authors to support. As self-published authors, distributing our books can be limited, so the more of our readers we meet, the more Australian books are found and read.
At each event, there will be a ‘Book Corner’ where you can buy books by the authors and a light morning tea may be offered. You will also meet like-minded people who enjoy reading and books.
For the rest of 2024, we will showcase our authors as well as other Australian authors in the form of interviews or they may talk about their journey and impart their experience. Keep an eye on the Humanitix website for future dates. We may also introduce virtual events where you can join these events without travelling to Summer Hill, more information about this soon.
If you are an author and would like to share your expertise or writing journey then email us at [email protected] and we will be in touch with dates and other details.
Happy reading (and learning),
