The Process of Absolution
We think if we just ask for forgiveness,
That will be granted. But unfortunately the impact of sins is more complicated than that. Firstly we need to know what sin is? Sin – in my book- is anything that hurts yourself, others or the surroundings. The lack of harmony in action is considered as sin. When one commits a sin, that activates a chain of actions, one leads to another. For instance someone steals from someone, because of that, the person commits a crime, a person goes to the prison, his wife becomes an adulterer and his children grow in poor condition and the whole family becomes dysfunctional because of that. How can one ask for forgiveness when there are so many people and consequences for that action are involved? Probably that’s why they say ” Old sins cast long shadows.” And that is why our prayers are left not responded. Not because He doesn’t want to respond, but because He can’t forgive on behalf of others.
Unless absolution occurs.
Absolution may occur if one, shows a sincere remorse, and turns their back to those sins to find confidence in themselves that they have learnt their lesson, then perhaps absolution will be granted and prayers will be responded.
