Enlightenment

He is not a monk.
She is not a nun.
He is not a priest.
She doesn’t have any books.
He doesn’t preach.
She is not famous.

They are just simple men and women.
Wake up with a smile.
Start their day with a big breath gratefully.
They are not worried about what they can’t change.
They care compassionately and graciously.
Their hearts are full of joy, and they want to share the joy with others.

The biggest concert they attend is the live show of free birds chanting their mantra.
Their life is full of void.
And the void is filled with joy generated by the moment.

Joy is a flowing spring connected to the never ending resource.
This spring doesn’t require sacrifice, doesn’t need suffering, it’s generously available to whoever digs a hole on the surface of self, vanity and pride.

That excavation is called mindfulness.
You don’t need to follow nor go on the pilgrimage.
That education is misguided.
That guidance is an aberration caused by self-importance.

No-one can tell you who you are.
Not your mother nor your mentor.
One has a sweet tooth and the other enjoys savoury.
One loves to travel and the other likes to gamble.
And you never know if you never explore.
A life in fear, is the life of dependency.

The world is full of colours and differences.
Diversity is richness.

The world has heard preaching goodness for thousands of years via deities and religions. But saints are not more than sinners are they?
And we only end up with confusion and guilt
Because of those education and preachings.

Discover who you are and embrace it.
And find your way for that discovery.

Don’t be conned by advertisements.
Embrace your shortcomings and strengths.
If you are happy, you are set, keep going.
If you’re not, stop running looking for it.

Enlightenment is among ordinary men and women.
Those who are living within their best selves.
They know who they are and they never stop pushing themselves to their boundaries.
They are not perfect and they don’t intend to be perfect.
They only know who they are and they live up to their limits.
Whilst enlightenment is not in those writing a book about spirituality  and the greatest good and selling it to others.
Or those who are going to rule the world by changing it.
Nor among those with the greatest appetite and ambitions.

Life is great as it is.
If we are suffering,
Mainly we, ourselves are the reason for that suffering.

Overthinking is not thinking.
And most of us are chronic overthinkers.

Thinking is a tool.
A tool to build comfort and not discomfort.
A tool to make us closer to others and not take us apart.
A reflection of our world inside.
An ability to read the map and it’s not the map itself.

*******

And it seems I am preaching to you, but believe me, as a chronic overthinker, I am only talking to myself. All historic manuscripts of guidance if they are real, they only must be looked at as autobiographies or personal diaries. Enlightenment  like happiness is a unique journey and it is available  to everyone. No-one can find it for you nor a guidance could reach you to the destination. We have been scammed systematically over the years.

*******

I am enlightened because I am an ordinary man.
I don’t follow and I don’t need followers.
I don’t need much to be happy.
Your smile brightens my day.

I am love.
I am liberation and
My heart is full of joy.

The only moments I am not happy about are those moments of overthinking.
When I allow the influence of my surroundings, shapes my current existence.
And I am still very much aware of that too.

At every breath I may ask if this is the last one,
and
My inhale responds: No!
